For De Toegift’s single: Alles is gemaakt (Everything is made) I got the opportunity to direct a music video. Based on De Toegifts’ performance of the song live, I thought of a ’60s-looking art film – simultaneously making fun of and paying homage to French directors of that time with the subtitles. The overall spotlight-lighting is based on other vintage music videos from bands like Rolling Stones and Queen. Max came up with the outfit, which we called a combination of a priest and a used-car salesman.
